Vincent Kompany returns for City at Newcastle this evening - one of three changes to the side that beat Chelsea 3-0.

The skipper's welcome return allows Nicolas Otamendi to take a well-earned breather on the bench and Fernandino joins him as a sub with Fernando coming in to replace his compatriot.

The only other change is Fabian Delph's return to the starting XI in place of the injured Samir Nasri.

City XI plus subs:

Hart, Zabaleta, Mangala, Kompany, Kolarov,  Fernando, Delph, Toure, Navas, De Bruyne, Aguero

Subs: Caballero, Iheanacho, Bony, Fernandinho, Sterling, Otamendi, Demichelis

Formation:

City look as though they'll go 4-4-1-1 - or possibly 4-2-3-1this evening with Kevin De Bruyne just behind Sergio Aguero in attack.

Yaya Toure and Fernando will take the lion's share of the defensive midfield work with Delph and Jesus Navas out wide. Raheem Sterling is also back from a lengthy lay-off and could well feature at some point this evening as City look to consolidate third spot in the table.

Can Sergio reach his century?

After moving to 99 with his weekend hat-trick at Chelsea, Aguero will look to further punish a porous Newcastle defence. Kun scored five goals against the Magpies in the 6-1 Etihad drubbing last October and will fancy his chances of adding to his tally tonight.

Magpies flying?

Not exactly, but a 3-0 win over Swansea has breathed new life into their relegation fight. Expect the hosts to race out of the blocks in a bid to get St James' Park rocking - but that could leave the sort of gaps De Bruyne and Aguero love to exploit.
